Meisha A. Powell began her legal career in 1998 after graduating from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA with a BA in Psychology, where she worked as a legal assistant and managed large case loads, including the development and implementation of a system created to organize the firms mass tort litigation defense. After graduating from Hofstra University, Maurice A. Deane School of Law in 2004 and her admission to the New York State Bar in March 2005, she worked as a litigation attorney for a mid town Manhattan law firm for 12 years. There she worked on cases related to corporate complex litigation matters, internal investigation, contract disputes, and ongoing federal, state, and local governmental investigations (SEC, FTC, FINRA, DOJ, etc.). Early in her career, she worked on cases that resulted from the real estate, subprime mortgage crisis in 2008, participating in attorney review and internal investigations for large banks and defense work related to governmental investigations of these large banks. Meisha’s career also encompasses work related to real estate transactions, personal injury matters, and insurance defense.
