Coming out of law school in 1988, Mark S. DeAngelis opened his law practice in Mount Vernon, where his uncle, Nicholas Moccio, Esq., had proudly represented clients for close to thirty years. Mr. DeAngelis learned under his uncle that to be successful in this profession, it required a combination of tenacity, hard work, integrity, commitment, and sacrifice. It also required a passion for the law and, most importantly, compassion for those you were representing. After being a solo practitioner for over five years, Mr. DeAngelis started a law firm with his friend from law school, Talay Hafiz. For almost twenty-five years, the law firm of DeAngelis & Hafiz served those who suffered personal injuries as a result of the negligence of others. Throughout his career, Mr. DeAngelis has been a trial attorney who has successfully litigated his clients’ cases, whether by trial verdict or settlement. For example, Mr. DeAngelis obtained a jury verdict in excess of $5,000,000.00 in the Supreme Court, New York County in 2018 for a client injured in a bus accident. Also in 2018, Mr. DeAngelis secured an arbitration award of $600,000.00 for a client injured in a one-car accident. In 2019, Mr. DeAngelis secured a settlement of $3,000,000.00 for a construction worker who was injured when stepping on broken ceramic tile and a settlement of $550,000.00 for a client injured in a two-car accident. The verdict, arbitration award, and settlements are just recent illustrations of the results Mr. DeAngelis has obtained for his clients during his almost thirty (30) years of practice in the area of personal injury. Mr. DeAngelis is admitted to practice in the state of New York and in the federal courts in the Southern District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers and the New York State Bar Association.
