Gene Leyn joined the firm as an Associate in May of 2018 with significant experience in all areas of litigation. Gene grew up in New York City and comes from an immigrant family and is fluent in the Russian language. He is a graduate of CUNY Hunter College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Media Studies. While attending the University of New Hampshire School of Law, Gene competed nationally in Moot Court competitions and worked as an intern at the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.
Prior to his work as the Law Office of Joseph A. Romano, P.C., Gene spent nearly 4 years working as an Investigative Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York on the Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities Task Force implemented by President Obama in the face of the 2008 financial crisis. While working on the Task Force, Gene assisted in recovering nearly 8 billion dollars for the taxpayers from Global Financial Institutions for their role in the financial crisis.
